About the Series

Filipino Faces is an ongoing body of work that captures the personality, vibrancy and diversity of the Filipino diaspora through portraiture.

Working in oil, each piece holds a moment in our contemporary existence away from stereotypes and common preconceptions about who we are. Allowing sitters to simply exist in their identities shaped across geographies, histories and personal narratives. The series moves between the intimate and the collective: documenting individuals while building a wider visual archive of the diaspora.

These works are not strictly about likeness, but about our presence in this world. Expressing what we feel, carry and express directly through our faces.

Commissions

Alongside the ongoing series, I offer a limited number of portrait commissions so that you can own your own ‘Filipino Faces’ oil portrait.

Commissions are approached as an extension of the existing series. A collaboration that contributes to this evolving archive of Filipino diasporic identity.
